New Zealand’s national football team, the All Whites, held 31st-ranked Norway to a 1–1 draw in Oslo, showing one of their strongest performances against a top-tier side. Ranked 83rd in the world, the All Whites impressed by controlling much of the game and creating several scoring chances.

Coach Darren Bazeley had called for better finishing, and the team responded. Midfielder Marko Stamenic thought he had scored early in the 13th minute, but the goal was ruled out by the video referee for offside. Despite this, New Zealand stayed focused and kept the pressure on.

Goalkeeper Alex Paulsen made a key save to deny Norway before New Zealand took the lead just before half-time. Defender Finn Surman tapped in a low cross from a free kick to put his side ahead.

After the break, striker Chris Wood came close to doubling the lead, including a powerful shot that hit the crossbar. However, Norway equalised in the 62nd minute through Antonio Nusa, who curled the ball past Paulsen.

Norway, missing their star player Erling Haaland, had more chances late in the game, but New Zealand’s defence stayed strong. Paulsen continued to shine with several important saves.

Ben Old nearly scored a winner for New Zealand with a close-range header, but the Norwegian goalkeeper saved it on the line. In the end, both teams settled for a draw.

Chris Wood marked his 88th international match, equalling Ivan Vicelich’s record as the most capped All White.

Next, New Zealand will play Colombia and Ecuador in November as they prepare for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America.
