Over the weekend, Fortnite, one of the most popular video games out there, had its most massive day ever! This record-breaking day happened during the launch of the latest season called “Fortnite OG.”

For those of you who don’t know, Fortnite is a super cool battle royale game where up to 100 players go head-to-head, and the last one standing wins. It’s been around since 2017 and has been changing and evolving over time to keep things fresh.

In “Fortnite OG,” the game’s creators decided to take players back to where it all began—the original island setting. They brought back some of the players’ all-time favorite locations and weapons. But they also kept some of the newer game features they added in the past few seasons to make it exciting and familiar at the same time.

However, there’s one thing missing in this season: challenges. In the past, these challenges, like scavenger hunts, were a huge hit and made players even more excited to play every Tuesday.

What’s really cool is that when “Fortnite OG” was released, so many of you jumped in to play at the same time that it set a new record. At one point on Saturday, there were a whopping 6.2 million of you playing at once—more than ever before!

So, even though “Fortnite OG” season is a big hit, it’s important to know that the creators, Epic Games, recently had to lay off some of their employees. This is despite the game’s huge success. It turns out the company was spending more money than it was making.
