Novak Djokovic has etched his name in tennis history by winning the U.S. Open, matching Margaret Court’s record of 24 Grand Slam titles.

In a hard-fought match, Djokovic defeated Daniil Medvedev with a score of 6-3, 7-6(5), 6-3, securing his fourth U.S. Open victory.

This win marked Djokovic’s remarkable Grand Slam campaign, having previously triumphed at the Australian Open, French Open, and U.S. Open in a single season. Additionally, the 36-year-old Serbian became the oldest U.S. Open men’s winner in the Open Era and the first to win three Grand Slam events in a season four times. Djokovic’s victory also avenged his loss to Medvedev in the 2021 U.S. Open final.

While Djokovic’s win captured the spotlight, another notable achievement came from New Zealand’s Erin Routliffe. She and her doubles partner, Gaby Dabrowski of Canada, clinched the U.S. Open women’s doubles final by defeating the higher-seeded pair of Laura Siegemund from Germany and Russia’s Vera Zvonareva with a score of 7-6, 6-3.

This victory marked Routliffe as the first senior New Zealand player to reach a U.S. Open final. The pair’s impressive performance saved eight of nine break points faced, solidifying their win in a match lasting two hours and 14 minutes.
