Taylor Swift’s concerts in Seattle, USA, caused seismic activity equivalent to a magnitude 2.3 earthquake, according to seismologist Jackie Caplan-Auerbach. The seismic data was analyzed from Swift’s two shows at Lumen Field stadium, where she performed in front of a total of 144,000 fans.

The seismic activity was attributed to the enthusiastic response of Swift’s adoring fans or the impact of the powerful sound system during the performances. The two concerts broke the previous seismic activity record at the Seattle stadium, which was a magnitude 2.0 earthquake known as the “Beast Quake” in 2011. The Beast Quake occurred during a Seattle Seahawks American football game, triggered by fans celebrating a touchdown against the New Orleans Saints.

Seismologist Jackie Caplan-Auerbach compared the seismic data from Swift’s concerts to that of the Beast Quake and found that they displayed remarkably similar patterns of seismic signals. The comparison revealed that the energy generated by Swift’s concerts caused seismic vibrations comparable to the earlier earthquake caused by exuberant sports fans.

The phenomenon showcases the incredible enthusiasm and energy of Taylor Swift’s fanbase, known as Swifties, and the significant impact of her music and performances on a grand scale. The seismic activity records set by Swift’s concerts add yet another impressive accomplishment to the pop superstar’s illustrious career.
