Japanese ice cream company called Cellato has created an ice cream flavor that costs a whopping $9,834NZD per serving, making it the most expensive ice cream in the world, according to Guinness World Records.
The flavor, named Byakuya, is made with some of the rarest ingredients from around the world. It includes a special white truffle from Alba, Italy, which costs about $6,905 per pound. Other ingredients used are Parmigiano Reggiano cheese and sake lees.
Cellato collaborated with Tadayoshi Yamada, the head chef at the Osaka restaurant RiVi, to develop this unique flavor. They aimed to combine European and Japanese flavors to create something truly special.
The process of perfecting the taste took over 1.5 years, with many trials and errors along the way. However, the Cellato representative expressed that achieving the Guinness World Records title made all the effort worthwhile.
