New Zealand’s Prime Minister, Christopher Luxon, told businesses in London this week that New Zealand is a great place for safe investments in a world that feels uncertain.

Speaking at a business event on Wednesday, he said New Zealand has natural resources, strong democratic systems, and talented people.

Luxon explained that New Zealand is not just famous for meat and dairy products. It is also the fourth biggest launcher of rockets into space, behind only the United States, Russia, and China. He added that 88 percent of New Zealand’s energy comes from renewable sources, making it one of the greenest countries in the world. New Zealand’s technology sector is also booming, now the country’s third biggest export after dairy and tourism.

The Prime Minister met with Britain’s leader, Sir Keir Starmer, on Tuesday. They agreed that their two countries have a strong friendship and discussed ways to boost trade and investment. Luxon said growing exports is important for New Zealand’s future, helping businesses create more jobs and raise incomes.

During his three-day visit, over $120 million worth of business deals were signed between UK and New Zealand companies. One exciting deal was the extension of a partnership between Heathrow Airport and a New Zealand company called Safe365. Safe365 makes technology that helps keep workplaces safer.

A UK investor, Harry Franks, said he was impressed by Safe365’s focus on doing great work rather than making a lot of noise, saying it reflects the hardworking Kiwi culture.
