ChatGPT-5, the newest version of the popular artificial intelligence tool, has been released.

It is designed to be better at creative writing, computer coding, and answering health questions. Developers say it also feels more “human” in conversation and makes 25% fewer mistakes compared to the previous version. Importantly, it now avoids pretending to know something it doesn’t, choosing instead to admit when it can’t solve a problem.

The AI offers four preset personalities, Cynic, Robot, Listener, and Nerd, so users can choose a style that suits them. Another new feature, called “reasoning,” allows the AI to pause and “think” through a question before replying.

ChatGPT’s popularity is huge. The service now has about 700 million weekly users, 5 million paying business customers, and 4 million developers creating apps with its technology. The company hopes to earn $20 billion this year, though it still isn’t making a profit.
