The All Blacks defeated Argentina 41–24 in Córdoba, Argentina, to begin their 2025 Rugby Championship campaign on Sunday.

The win puts New Zealand at the top of the tournament standings after the first round of matches. They will face Argentina again next week in Buenos Aires.

The New Zealand team made a fast start, with Sevu Reece scoring two tries in the first half. At halftime, the All Blacks led by 21 points. Argentina fought back strongly in the second half, scoring twice to narrow the score to just seven points.

However, the All Blacks regained control. Replacement player Samisoni Taukei’aho scored two late tries, helping his team secure the win. Captain Scott Barrett praised his teammates, especially the substitutes, for finishing the game strongly.

With this victory, the All Blacks have also moved to number one in the world rugby rankings. Australia, who beat South Africa 38–22 in Johannesburg, also sit on five points in the standings but trail on points difference.

Both teams now travel to Buenos Aires.
