YouTube has announced that the number of dislikes videos get on YouTube will soon be hidden from view.
The company conducted research this year have decided to now make the change permanent.
YouTube says that the dislike button will still be available to use. However, viewers will no longer be able to see how many people have disliked the video they are watching.
YouTube believe that there have been cases of what they describe as “dislike attacks” on some videos.
This is a tactic where viewers band together and encourage others to increase the number of dislikes on a video. This maybe seen by many as a form of bullying and harassment on the platform.
During the experiment YouTube said that they saw a reduction in dislike attacks.
However, some people believe that with no ability to show dislikes some fake news or disinformation may be able to get onto the platform.
