A British man is claiming new world speed record for a shopping trolley.

Matt McKeown, apparently reache 70.8 kilometres per hour in his rocket-powered trolley at the Santa Pod Raceway in Northamptonshire, UK.

He has approached the Guinness World Records to come and check his next record attempt.

McKeown’s trolley is powered by a jet engine from a Chinook helicopter and he believes he could eventually top 110kmh.

The trolley itself has go-kart tyres for added stability and a basic steering system has been added.
