Dubai has approved a plan for the an island development that will be home to the world’s biggest Ferris wheel.

The NZ$1.9 billion island will include a Ferris wheel, called the Dubai Eye, which will stand 210m high. The London Eye is only 135m high.

Construction is planned to begin later this year, although it is not known how long this new project will take to build.

Dubai has currently planning  a series of mega projects similar to projects the country completed prior to 2009. The projects include theme parks and a satellite city named for Dubai’s ruler, Sheik Mohammed bin Rashin Al Maktoum.

  1. I do believe its a good idea but I also think that they should not steal the “London Eye’s” name. They should call it something more original to them. Also I wonder why Dubai wants to have everything huge: first the tallest building in the world and now the largest ferris wheel. Although overall I think that it would be a scary thing for people afraid of heights but then again it would be superb.

  2. Wow that is big, no its huge but is that really safe and it will take a long time to build. Why the “Dubai Eye” isn’t that coping the name of the “London Eye”It would be fun for the people who aren’t afraid of heights.

  3. Wow that will be a really big Ferris wheel now that will take long to build. But picture yourself being on that ride high up the sky I think that it will fun.
