A woman has had a narrow escape when a runaway moving truck crashed into the wall of her Northland home. The truck was parked in a nearby neighbours driveway, when it rolled and smashed into the Woman’s living room. Luckily for her, the truck stopped a few meters short of where she was relaxing on her couch.
It is believed that the driver of the furniture delivery truck had only stepped a few meters out in front of the vehicle when he heard the sound of the brakes releasing. While he considered getting back in it, in an attempt to stop the vehicle form rolling away, he was left with no real option but to watch it crash into the neighbours house.
While the front of the Woman’s house has been completely demolished, it is a miracle she didn’t receive any injuries.

  1. Wow! She is so lucky. I wonder whether anyone has looked at the truck and found an error or was it the drivers fault? If it was the driver, this shows a complete lack of effort by leaving the brake on, although the article sounds like it was a mechanical failure. Good job from the driver on not attempting to get into the truck.

  2. Very lucky escape indeed. But who is going to pay for the damage? And why did the brand of the truck make faulty brakes?
