Woman to be freed in Sudan

A woman who was arrested and sentenced to death in Sudan, after refusing to change her religion, is to soon be freed.

Having been raised by a Christian mother and marrying a Christian man, Meriam Ibrahim considers herself Christian.

However, Sudan has strict Islamic laws with the majority of its people being Muslim.

Since Meriam’s father was a Muslim, the Sudanese court decreed that she should be as well.

Meriam is currently is prison for refusing to change her faith and was forced to give birth to her second daughter in her cell.

The death sentence of a pregnant women sparked outrage all over the world and has led to protesting in Sudan.

Until she is set free, there will continue to be pressure on Sudan to change their decision.

  1. Feel sorry for her she should be allowed to have any religion and having a baby in jail you must be kidding

  2. That’s sad they should at least let her child have a good life instead of spending her first days in a prison cell.

  3. I have no clue why someone would do something so cruel and forcing her to change her religion. She should be put out of jail and let her stay in her own religion because people have different beliefs. If they are going to do something like that then they are stupid especially because she is due to having a baby. THAT’S TOTALLY UNNECESSARY!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. (My opinion) I think everybody should fight for what they believe and no one should tell people there beliefs.

  6. I think that she should be able to fight for what they beliveve in. No one should have the right to say who someone els is and what they believe in.

  7. I think you should fight for what you believe and other people should not tell you you’re beliefs.
