Who’s calling?!

It’s not everyday that you get a phone call from the Pope and it’s certainly not everyday that you hang up on him – but that is exactly what Franco Rabuffi did… TWICE!

Pope Francis often takes the time to respond to letters that he receives from strangers and sometimes even calls those who he has heard are ill. After hearing that Italian man, Franco, was unwell, Pope Francis called him to offer his sympathy.

However, Franco believed that he was the victim of a prank call when he was informed that he was speaking to the Pope. Franco hung up on the leader of the Catholic Church twice, refusing to believe that he was truly speaking to Pope Francis.

It wasn’t until the third attempt by the patient Pope that Franco actually took the call seriously. Luckily Pope Francis found the whole misunderstanding quite funny and Franco and his wife visited him in person to apologise for the mix up.
