Eighteen injured war veterans from New Zealand, Canada and the UK have cycled from Bluff to Cape Reinga.
That is a huge 2546km bike ride!!
It took them 21 days.
They rode up to 160km a day on custom-made tandem bikes a hand-crank at the front and foot pedals at the rear. All of the veterans had war injuries ranging from double leg amputations to post-traumatic stress disorder.
The ride is called Operation Ride, and it hoped to be staged every two years.
Money raised by the Kiwi contingent will go to the Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen’s Association of New Zealand, a charity set up to support the forgotten veterans of contemporary conflicts.
