A Sunderland pub believes they have the world’s hottest chicken wings – they are so spicy that customers need gloves in order to pick them up!
The Scoville scale is used to measure the spicy heat of foods, and these chicken wings measure over 1 million units!
Along with the protective gloves, those who undertake the hot wings challenge must sign a consent form to confirm they understand the dangers and the challenge is restricted to over 18s.
The wings are covered in the bar’s MK1 Secret Recipe Chilli BBQ sauce which is made from 3 of the world’s hottest chillies – the moruga scorpion pepper from Trinidad, the naga chili and the Florida-grown ghost pepper.
To successfully complete the challenge, you must finish a £7.95 portion at the Purple Bar which consists of 10 wings.
Those who complete the challenge receive a full refund and their picture is placed on the Wall of Flame.
Out of 20 challengers so far, only 2 people have managed to finish their 10 wings.
Could you take the heat?
