Victoria University has taken a strong stance against carbon-emitting fuels, announcing its planned withdrawal of investment into the fossil fuel industry. Vice-Chancellor of Victoria University Grant Guidford, has said that this move was based upon an ethical stance against the harmful side effects carbon-emitting fuels produce.
The university’s announcement comes as Governments around the world are being urged to phase out fossil fuels and actively reduce emissions, or else the world will face an extensive degree of irreversible damage as a result of climate change. This comes as the latest United Nations report of Climate change released facts stating that greenhouse-gas levels are at their highest peak in 800,000 years, which the burning of fossil fuels has close accountability for.
