Max Verstappe has won the shortest Formula One race in history.
The wet race was held in Spa-Francorchamps which is in Belgium and lasted for just two laps.
To make things worse the “race” was completed with all cars driving slowly behind the safety car. With no overtaking possible, pole setter Max Verstappen was declared the winner for Red Bull ahead of Williams driver George Russell.
Bad weather forced the delay of the race by around 3 hours and due to commercial obligations to TV companies the organisers of the Formula One had to ensure a race was completed.
Driver Lewis Hamilton said he was really disappointed for the crowd but the conditions were impossible for racing. He also said that he thinks the crowd should get their money back.
The result means that Hamilton’s overall lead has been whittled down to three points from eight.
