The Queen has approved a request by the government to suspend the United Kingdom.

The move has been started by new Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, and comes just a few weeks before the Brexit deadline.

Boris Johnson said a Queen’s Speech would take place after the suspension, on 14 October.
The Queen’s Speech is the traditional event that opens the Houses of Parliament for a new term.

Putting the Queen’s Speech so close the Brexit deadline is being seen as a controversial move. It would mean that there is little time for debate between MP’s before Brexit.
Many MPs think it’s important that Parliament answers questions before this important event.

There’s been a strong reaction from people all over Britain. Over the weekend thousands of people have protested the move.
