Typhoon hits Phillipines

Thousands of people were forced to flee their homes as Typhoon Koppu swept into the northern Philippines in Southeast Asia last Sunday.

Alexander Pama, head of the government’s main disaster agency, said 10,000 people had been moved from their homes in north-eastern Luzon. Unfortunately, the Philippines is still recovering from Super Typhoon Haiyan, which devastated the country in 2013.

Typhoon Koppu is up to 650 km across. When it leave the Philippines it will be heading towards Taiwan.
