Social media giant Twitter may increase its word limit to 1000 characters.

The announcement was made by techncal mag ‘Re/code’.

The magazine said that Twitter was considering launching the service in a few months.

Apparently the company is testing a version of the product which displayed 140-character-long tweets but expanded to reveal more content when clicked.

The news has not gone down well on Twitter. Some users have taken to Twitter to express their disappointment to the new idea with the hashtag #beyond140.
