Donald Trump has broken with tradition and took his own plane to meet President Obama in the White House.
Trump bought the jet in 2011 and splashed out a small fortune on equipping the plane, which reaches speeds of up to 800 kmh.
Trump used to call the plan “T-Bird”, though since his election victory it has been renamed “Trump Force One”.
It is going to be interesting to see if Trump uses Air Force One when he is President.
Trumps plane is reputedly worth more than NZ$138 million. It has 24-carat gold fixtures in its office, two bedrooms, and powerful Rolls-Royce turbofan engines. Its seat belts are gold-plated, while the bedroom reserved for Trump contains wood panelling and silk pillows embroidered with his family crest. The video lounge has a 144cm screen and sound system.
Air Force One has room for 102 people, there are 43 seats on Trump’s airliner.
Trumps private jet also lacks a conference room, gym and flares to avoid heat-seeking missiles, all of which are available on Air Force One. Nor does it have a built-in medical centre on hand to monitor the health of the world’s most powerful man.
