The note is written on Titanic paper andwas penned just hours before the liner sank with the loss of more than 1500 lives.

The letter said: “It is very nice weather, but awfully windy and cold.”

the author of the letter was a Mrs Esther Hart. She survived the disaster, along with daughter Eva, seven.

After the Titanic hit the iceberg, shortly before midnight on April 14, 1912, her husband Benjamin guided his wife and child to lifeboat 14. The body of Benjamin was never found.

The letter was in the pocket of his coat that Esther was still wearing when she eventually arrived in New York with Eva.
