The French capital of Paris has been rocked with a number of attacks.

On Friday evening (French time) police and French army were called in to help keep people safe.

Sadly over one hundred people were killed.

The French President, Francois Hollande, has declared an emergency and 1,500 soldiers are now helping police across the city.

Countries around the world have shown that they’re standing side by side with France, by sending messages of support and lighting their iconic buildings with the colours of the French flag – red, white and blue.

The extremist Islamic group known as IS, or the Islamic State, have now said they are responsible for the attacks.

Francois Hollande has called the attacks in Paris an “act of war” carried out by IS.

He has now declared three days of national mourning.
