Tattoo’s stop Apple Watch performing

The new Apple smartwatch has arrived! Except for some users, the watch is not working properly because of their tattoos.

Early buyers of the company’s first smartwatch, have taken to social media to report issues with some of the device’s features when placed on wrists decorated with tattoos.

Dark ink is said to disrupt and confuse some of the light sensors on the back of the watch. It blocks the light from the sensor which makes it difficult to get a reliable reading.

The problem is not exclusive to the Apple Watch. Other smartwatches and wearable devices that use similar technology have struggled to perform on darker or tattooed skin.

Heart rate readings have shown large differences when used on tattooed and untattooed wrists.

It seems that the sensor and technology of the Apple Watch are fairly advanced. However the technology giant has yet to solve the issue of the watch and tattoos.

  3. I think the apple watches could be a hit, It is a shame that it wont work if you have a tattoo.#SAD
