Taranaki win Ranfurly Shield

Taranaki have won the Ranfurly Shield.

The Amber and Blacks have beaten Canterbury 23-22 in an pulsating Shield match in Christchurch.

All Black fullback Jordie Barrett, was one of the stars, kicking the match-winning penalty goal from 50 metres out in the 74th minute.

Taranaki played superbly in the first half and held a 20-3 lead at halftime.

However, Canterbury scored three unanswered tries in the second-half to snatch the lead before Barrett’s monster kick.

Taranaki will start its seventh Ranfurly Shield reign against Otago in Inglewood next Sunday afternoon.
