King Tuheitia‘s son, Whatumoana Te Aa Paki, will take over his father’s duties while the king battles diabetes.
The Te Kaunihera a te Kingi, A King’s Council, has been set up over the weekend to help Whatumoana Te Aa Paki in the new role.
It is expected that he will do the role for 18 months before his father is well again.
A spokesperson said that Kingi Tuheitia is being treated for a range of complaints, mostly related to diabetes. He is currently staying at his home.
Whatumoana Te Aa Paki,  is only in his early 20s, but has been doing official duties for some years.

  1. Why shouldn’t he take up the role? Is it due to his age? Do any of you know what is involved in this role? I think it is an amazing opportunity for whatumoana . Who knows, through doing this he may become the next maori king when the time arrives. Instead of questioning why hes recieving this role, try sending him positivity and mana to help him through this journey. Every opportunity is a stepping stone to SUCCESS!
