A stowaway snake was found in a Japanese imported car at an Auckland yard. It has been caught and killed.
Ministry for Primary Industries were called to the yard and spent several hours on site before managing to “apprehend” the creature. It was found coiled around the engine.
About two or three snakes are found in imported cars each year.
A review on biosecurity checks will happen as a result of the snake discovery.
