The Six Nations rugby competition has started in Europe.

In the first game, Scotland narrowly beat England 20-17.

Scotland was up 10-6 at the half-time break but then England lead 10-17 before a penalty try and a yellow card for the English hooker Luke Cowan-Dickie brought Scotland back in the game.

It proved the turning point as with the one-man advantage, Scotland won a late penalty to snatch victory and take the Calcutta Cup for a second successive year.

Meanwhile, Ireland eased past reigning champions Wales 29-7 in their opening game in Dublin.

In the final game, France was too strong for Italy.
