Silver Ferns beat Aussie Diamonds

The Silver Ferns have beaten the Australian Diamonds 49-44 in the first Test of the Constellation Cup.

Played in Christchurch in front of an empty stadium, the Ferns were to strong for the current World Champions.

Playing each other for the first time in 18months, the Ferns got the better start and led 14-10 after the first quarter.

New Zealand’s dominance continued in the second quarter, to take a 28-21 lead at half-time.

Australia looked better after half time but the ferns stayed in control to see the game out and record a 5 goal victory.

The second game will be held tomorrow where New Zealand hopes to claim the Constellation Cup for first time since 2012.
