New technology has caused a new problem for electronics manufacturer Samsung.

Samsung is warning people not to discuss personal or private information within earshot of its smart TV’s as voice recognition software used by the TV’s can listen to conversations and share what it hears.

Samsung say this warning is only relevant to those users who control their Samsung Smart TV using its voice activation feature.

The TV’s “listen” to what is said in front of them and may share this with Samsung or other companies.

Samsung says the TV’s listen for potential commands but are also tracking information to send to another company for possible improvements to the Smart TV.

What secrets would your TV hear?
