Scientists have discovered the reason for smelly armpits.

Researchers from the University of York have found unique enzyme is responsible for smell we call body odour or BO.

The study has found that there is a bacteria Staphylococcus hominis, which naturally lives on our skin.

This bacteria eats Cys-Gly-3M3SH molecules released by our armpit glands.  While the bacteria eats some of it, they spit out the rest which turns into the very smelly thioalcohol, 3M3SH.

It is hoped that this new research will help scientist develop better deodorants.
