Jonah Lomu’s old school Favona Primary, have released a tribute song for Jonah Lomu, which will be available as a ‘gift’ for the public to remember the rugby great by.
The pupils from his old school both wrote and performed the song at the Ex-All Blacks public memorial service on Monday.
While the song has since been viewed thousands of times, the schools principle, Lois Kirkbride said the school will offer it as a free gift for all in tribute. Kirkbride commented how she hopes that in making the song a free download, the public will be urged to donate to one of Lomu’s various charities.
Music producer and former Favona pupil Matthew Salapu said the song was originally just going to be recorded and filmed for YouTube. However they were asked to perform it at Lomu’s memorial service, something that Salapu said was “the icing on the cake”.
