Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has announced New Zealand will move into Level 2 on Thursday.
The move will be staggered with business opening on Thursday, schools on Monday 18th May and bars on the 21st May.
Jacinda Ardern and Director-General of Dr Health Ashley Bloomfield also announced that social gatherings will be limited to groups of 10 for the next two weeks.
The new limit would apply to parties at home, church meetings, weddings, funerals and group bookings at restaurants or bars.
People attending movies at the theatre would have to be spaced out.
“We may have won the battle, but we have not won the war,” Ardern told New Zealanders at her 4pm press conference.
Ardern warned of a long road ahead. She urged New Zealanders to continue to maintain public hygiene and health practices.
