The second Rural Games have been held in Queenstown over Waitangi weekend.
The Games are designed to promote the agricultural sector and provide a number of scholarships to preserve rural sports.
One of the highlights of the weekend is the annual ‘Running of the Wools’ through the centre of Queenstown.
The event has proved popular in the past and this year thousands of people lined the streets of Queenstown to watch the sheep run past.
In total around 50 merino sheep ran through Beach St, Queenstown in an event similar to the running of the Bulls which is held in Spain.
