A huge leak of confidential documents by the BBC has shown how rich and powerful people avoid tax.

Eleven million documents have been leaked from one of the world’s most secretive companies, Panamanian law firm Mossack Fonseca.

This company works for rich people to set up companies in offshore tax havens.

A tax haven is a country that has very little tax. People start businesses in these countries to avoid paying tax in their own country.

The BBC from the UK has shown how the company, Mossack Fonseca, has helped clients launder money, dodge sanctions and evade tax.

The list of people who have been clients of  this company include soccer star Lionel Messi, movie star Jackie Chan and the father of UK Prime Minister David Cameron.
