Australian lawyer, David Richards set the Guinness World Record for largest residential Christmas light display when he decorated his house with more than half a million bulbs – but this year he’s stepped it up a notch!

A Canberra shopping mall has been decked out with a display of more than 1.2 million bulbs led by David. This year though, David had some help with volunteers helping create the display to raise money for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and Kids ACT (Australian Capital Territory).

This year’s display has won David another Guinness World Record, this time for the largest image made of LED lights.

Those visiting the display will be welcomed free of charge but will be encouraged to donate to the cause. A local energy company has contributed by donating the electricity to power the entire display.

David dedicates his displays to raising money for SIDS as it is a cause close to his heart after he lost his son to SIDS in 2002.
