Auckland’s Sky Tower recently hosted a competition in order to raise money for Leukaemia and Blood Cancer New Zealand.
Firefighters from across the country, along with some from Australia and the US, competed to raise $1 million dollars for the charity.
The competitors raced up the 51 flights of stairs, weighed down with 25kg of equipment and breathing apparatus.
Brent Austin, from Airport Rescue Fire Hamilton, has so far placed 10th in the competition, ascending 1103 stairs to the 51st floor in just 10 minutes 27 seconds.
This is the ninth year of the competition and more than 180 New Zealand brigades and stations competed.
