Queensland win Origin opener

Queensland has won the first game of State of Origin 2019.

They beat New South Wales 18-14 in Brisbane.

Queensland was down 8-0 at half time, despite dominating the game in front of 50,000 fans.

However, in the second half, Queensland made the most of their chances to score 18 points. Man of the match Dane Gagai helped the Maroons with two tries.

Game two is in Perth on June 23.
