Violent protests have been taking place in Missouri and other parts of America.

The riots started after it was announced that a white police officer will not be charged for shooting a black 18 year old boy named Michael Brown back in August.

People feel this is an unfair decision. They think the officer is getting away with murder and believe that he is being let off because the victim is black.

Shops have been robbed, cars and buildings have been set on fire, and bottles and stones have been thrown.

US President Barack Obama is asking that the protests remain peaceful and that people stop the violence.

The police officer said he could not have changed his actions. He felt his life was in danger and acted accordingly and could not have done anything to prevent the shooting.

He does however understand the anger and grief of the boys parents.
