One of the world most popolar memes has sold for $500,000.

The meme, known as burning house, features a young girl named Zoe Roth.

The image was created in 2005. Roth was 4 years old, when her family went to look at a house on fire in their neighbourhood in North Carolina.

Firefighters had intentionally set the blaze as a controlled fire, so it wasn’t a major incident.

Roth remembers watching the flames when her father, an amateur photographer, asked her to smile.

Now, after more than a decade of having her image all around the internet Roth has sold the meme for $500,000. She has sold it as a nonfungible token, or NFT.

She plans to use the money to help her pay her way through college.

  1. That is just SAD, that she would stand by, and watch and smile, and take photographs, and make memes and sell them while her neighbor’s house burns down! Sad, I say, Sad!!!! Anyway, Please like! x9999
