The movie Poi E has been the stand out film at the 2016 NZ Film Festival.

The song was developed by a man called Dalvanius Prime and the movie is about his journey making the song.
The story follows him returning from Sydney to Taranaki to nurse his dying mother. He stayed in New Zealand and embraced his culture and Te Reo Māori. He collaborated with singer Prince Tui Teka who led him to Māori language composer Ngoingoi Pēwhairangi. Together they composed ‘Poi E’.
