A plane has crashed in the Colombian mountains after an electrical fault.

It was a charter plane carrying a top Brazilian football team, sports journalists and crew. Sadly 75 people out of the 81 on board died.

Brazil has declared three days of mourning and cancelled football matches.

The team was flying to face Atletico Nacional of Medellin in the first leg of the Copa Sudamericana final, South America’s equivalent of the Europa League.

It was the first time Chapecoense, a small club from the southern Brazilian town of Chapeco, had reached the final of a major South American club competition.

This is the worst plane disaster this year.
