The Wellington Phoenix are into the A-League playoff despite losing their final game of the season.

The Phoenix were beaten 5-0 by Perth over the weekend.

Phoenix coach Mark Rudan rested key players for the trip to Perth, but they will come back next week.

The defeat means that Wellington moved from fifth to sixth on the ladder – resulting in an away elimination final against Melbourne Victory on Friday night.

Victory will start that match as hot favourites.

Adelaide United will host Melbourne City at Coopers Stadium in the other elimination final.

Perth Glory and Sydney FC will have a bye before hosting a semi-final in week two.
