The Wellington Phoenix have created history with a comprehensive 8-2 win over the Central Coast Mariners.

The win was the highest scoring game for the Phoenix. It also equaled the highest scoring A-League football game of all time.

Roy Krishna and Sarpreet Singh were the stars of the show, finishing with two goals each and setting up three others. Krishna’s brace takes his season tally to 14, now joint leader in the Golden Boot race with Sydney FC’s Adam Le Fondre.

The result leaves the Phoenix in 4th place, and a potential A-league football home final, come the end of the season.

Wellington Phoenix 8 (Sam Graham OG 8′, Roy Krishna 12′, 45+1′, David Williams 21′, Liberato Cacace 51′, Sarpreet Singh 57′, 88′, Louis Fenton 59′) Central Coast Mariners 2 (Jack Clisby 61′, Stephen Mallon 68′) HT:4-0. Attendance: 3703
