Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps will race a great white shark — and likely lose to it — as a stunt to open this year’s Discovery Channel’s Shark Week.
Discovery Channel released only a few details about the spectacle, “Phelps vs. Shark: Great Gold vs Great White,” but Phelps stands to lose big, despite his 23 Olympic gold medals.
Even the fastest human swimmers can only hit 6 miles per hour. Great white sharks, on the other hand, can swim 25 to 35 miles per hour.
They also have 300 razor-sharp teeth. It is unclear if Phelps and the shark will compete in the same tank, but here’s hoping the great white will be well-fed!
