The price of petrol has hit record prices in New Zealand.
Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern has said New Zealander are being “fleeced” by fuel companies, pointing to a 39 cent increase in petrol prices between in the last year.
Of the 40 cents a litre increase in petrol prices over recent weeks, about 25 cents of that has been due to the rising crude oil prices internationally.
The remainder has been adjustments in retailer prices and tax.
The results has seen many New Zealander look at alternatives. Trade Me has marked a staggering 252 per cent jump in users scouring the online auction site for electric vehicles compared to last year, while electric bike searches have also jumped 40 per cent over the past seven days.
Opposition leader Simon Bridges said Ms Ardern is using the fuel companies as a scapegoat for high petrol prices. However, he believes the main problem is in the taxes that Labour has bought in on petrol.
Are you not using the car so much due to the increased petrol prices?

Why!?
Well, I guess its the Prime Minister’s fault?
Why is everyone complaining about no petrol, petrol itself is bad and when you put petrol in the car the gas would just release and it’s bad for the environment. Rant ended.
what
what
To the person who said why is everyone mad,
While Petrol is bad for the environment, we need it for tons of things. People can’t always get to work by walking or biking, and the NZDF needs it as well. Petrol is required for our everyday life, and we are working to reduce the impact it has. However, it is plain wrong to say that we should never use it.
Imagen the price when we grow up and have car’s and pay for petrol with our own money.
Thing is we are a spec with the pollution compared to other countries.
and the electric car station will then be taxed as well because we need the money for the roads. yet this tax is so jasinda get the tax money not the upkeep of roads.
