Peter Capaldi named as new Doctor Who

Peter Capaldi has been revealed as the actor who will now play Doctor Who.

He will take over the job from Matt Smith who was the previous Doctor.

Capaldi is a 55-year-old actor from Glasgow and is the oldest Doctor since the first, William Hartnell, began it all in 1963.

Peter has appeared in a Doctor Who show before. In 2008 he was a Roman merchant called Caecilius in The Fires of Pompeii.

  • At school Peter was the lead singer of a punk rock group called the Dreamboys.
  • Peter was in the running to replace David Tennant as the Doc in 2010 before producers opted for Matt Smith instead.
  • He’s a Doctor Who superfan himself.
  • Peter said: “It’s so wonderful not to keep this secret any longer. Being asked to play the Doctor is an amazing privilege.”

  1. Well, they have to keep changing doctors for the show to keep going but I hate it when you like the current doctor and then you suddenly have another, craaaazzzyyyy
