Welcome to the Kiwi Kids News daily round up of the Tokyo Olympic Games. These Olympics will see round 11,000 athletes from 205 nations competing in the 339 events on offer, across 33 sports. New Zealand has a team of 211 athletes competing.

Our Rowing team had amazing first day in Tokyo.
The day started off with Jordan Parry rowing in Single Scull. He was in heat 2 lane 1. He finished 2nd and qualified for the quarter-finals.
Then we had Emma Twigg rowing in Single Scull. She was in heat 6 lane 5. She came first in her heat and has qualified for the Quarter-finals.
Next, it was on to double Sculls. Our men’s Double scull was in heat 2 lane 3. They finished 3rd and qualified for the quarter-finals.
Our woman’s Double sculls came with the second win of the day. They were in heat 1 land 3 and qualified for the quarter-finals.
To finish the day we had the woman’s Quadruple Scull. We were in heat 1 lane 3. We finished 4th and didn’t qualify for the Quarter-finals.
