The NZ Warriors have sacked head coach Stephen Kearney.

The news comes straight after the side’s 40-12 loss to the Rabbitohs in Sydney on Friday night.

Current assistant coach Todd Payten has been named as interim replacement.

Kearney signed with the Warriors as head coach for the 2017 season, guiding the club to the finals in 2018.

During his time as a coach he has had a 35% winning record. In 2020 the Warriors have had a roller-coaster season, with only two wins from six games.
